Getting a phlebotomy volunteer experience will help you get the minimum experience of six months required to get a job. Phleblotomy is a catch 22 domain. With the right experience you can turn down lots of jobs, but without experience, it is very hard to get any job out there.

Many fresh phlebotomists technicians find themselves stuck with a certification and unable to get a job without any previous experience, prefferably one year. When you have family to feed, this can become even more frustrating.

Another good place to find volunteer jobs is to look at blood banks. You could also look on healthcare agents and ask if they have any availabilities for any phlebotomy internships. Clinics are also a place where you could find some work.

Finding a CPT1 job without 2 years experience can be very frustrating in some states, particularly California, and for this reason you are better off getting a phlebotomy training school that offers you interships as well. Another idea is to look to enter for a lower position, such as nursing assistant which wil help you get the required experience in health care and from there you could apply for phlebotomy jobs.

Finding any kind of vounteer work will count towards your resume and make sure you specify this in it. The first place for phlebotomy volunteer work should be your training school. You should ask them of a list of available places where they accept volunteers. Usually, there are labs which do accept phlebotomy technicians without experience.

Another popular place to get a volunteer experience is at American Red Cross and Quest. Due to high demand, you may find that there is a big waiting list for phlebotomists, but it is worth trying. You can check their availability on their website, since every town differ.

Hospitals usually do not accept volunteer phlebotomists, especially the big hospitals, even if they need staff, since the fluctuation of personal is pretty high in phlebotomy, many come and go to better paid jobs or to pursue more training.

Also, you may need to find out if you need some malpractice insurance before starting any kind of phlebotomy volunteer work. Some states even require it which is a good thing since you are better off paying a small insurance fee for your peace of mind.
